Club History

Barton Town Old Boys FC were formed at the start of the 1995/96 season as a result of the almalgamation of the two longest established and most successful clubs in the town of Barton Upon Humber, Barton Town FC and Barton Old Boys FC.

Barton Town FC had been in existance for over 100 years, being fulfilled in 1880 and playing out of their Marsh Lane Ground, still the home of the new club, since 1927. "Town" were one of the founder members of the Lincolnshire League, winning it in 1960/62 before embarking on its golden era over the following 2 decades in the Midland League and in particular the Yorkshire League. They returned to the Lincolnshire League in the early 1980's winning the first division title in 1981./82.The club remained in the league for the next 10 years before dropping out.

Barton Old Boys FC had been a member of the Scunthorpe & District League since 1959, boasting 2 sides in the 1st and 2nd divisions. Over the 10 year perios from the mid 80's "Old Boys" were the most consistantly successful team in the league, culminating in the 1994/95 season with the at the time unique achievement of winning all four major Scunthorpe League competitions. In order to progress the two clubs mergered and started the 1995/96 season in the Lincolnshire League.

After a disastrous start the new Barton Town Old Boys FC finished a very creditable 4th and won the County Senior B Cup. 1996/97 saw the teams fortunes peak as they won the League and Challenge double since then another County Cup triumph and two more Challenge Cup titles have been added to the list of honours.

After 5 highly successful and enjoyable seasons in the Lincolnshire League things were starting to become stale, on and off the pitch, so the decision was made to move into the newly formed Humber Premier League for the 2000/02 season. Despite being the only club from South of the Humber, the team performed creditably, finishing third in the new league.

However the decision was taken to move on again to enable the club to get a foot on the ladder of the Football Pyramid. Consequently Barton Town Old boys joined the Central Midlands League for the start of the 2001/02 season. The club finished runners up in the Premier Division, gaining promotion to the Supreme Division.
