Club's Pen Pics

Mark Frost: Goalkeeper. Age 25. Mark is the best keeper Blidworth have had for the past few seasons. He arrived this summer after spending last season with Shirebrook Town. Previous Clubs: Shirebrook Town.

Eddie Crump: Defender. Age 19. Eddie has come up from the reserves and proven himself to be a very capable full back for Blidworth this year when given a starting role. Previous Clubs: None.

Dave Marshall: Defender. Age 31. Dave is a very experienced centre-back whom we’ve been fortunate to sign from Carlton Town, who he’d been with for most of his career. Previous Clubs: Carlton Town.

Dale Crowder: Defender. Age 24. Dale is an outstanding defender at this level and is sorely missed when he’s not playing. He’s one of the real tough-tacklers in the side. Previous Clubs: Hucknall Town.

John Cheesmond: Defender. Age 24. A product of the Chesterfield youth team, John is extremely strong in the air and has established himself as a defensive rock in his 3 years at the Club. Previous Clubs: Chesterfield, Clipstone Welfare.

John Turner: Defender. Age 21. The pacy centre-back is just beginning to play first-team football for us. Like Cheesmond, his aerial ability will be a big asset against big strikers. He has the potential to play football at a much higher level.

Lee Whetton: Age 23. Defender. Missing for most of this year through injury, Lee’s a strong centre back whom we hope to have back playing soon. Previous Clubs: Teversal.

Stephen Russell Age: 19. Defender. Stephen is a product of our youth setup. Has shown great physical strength this year despite his youth.

John Whitworth: Age 21. Defender/Midfielder. Another former youth team player, has settled into a full-back roll primarily this season and is now adding consistency to his game.

Paul England: Defender/Midfielder. Age 27. “Ingo” can perform any role on the left of the pitch and is a great crosser of the ball when he breaks forward. Previous Clubs: Clipstone Welfare, Thoresby Welfare.

Steve England: Defender/Midfielder. Age 31. Paul’s older brother patrols the right side of the pitch and is highly effective in the air when attacking set pieces. Previous Clubs: Clipstone Welfare, Thoresby Welfare.

Steve Jelley: Defender/Striker. Age 26. A versatile defender who’s proven himself a great striker too. Called in to fill the void left by Mickey Clarke’s injury, he could well fill the role permanently. Previous Clubs: Clipstone Welfare.

Simon Ward: Midfielder. Age 28. Only started playing at this level 3 years ago and has been a Blidworth player all this time. Very much a ball-winner in the middle of the park but can also play at the back. He simply never stops running during the game.

John Lee: Midfielder. Age 29. Hasn’t played much this season, but is useful on the left hand side or in central midfield. Previous Clubs: Teversal, Stavely.

Dave Wilkes: Midfielder. Age: 25. Another recent addition to the squad. Can play anywhere across the middle or even upfront. Dave is as hard working as they come
Previous Clubs: Glapwell, Shirebrook Town.

Matt Allen: Midfielder/Striker. Age 20. Joined from Rainworth in the summer and brings flair to the team. Tricky, pacy and extremely skilful, he’s a real handful to defenders. Usually a sub, he changes games when he comes on. Previous Clubs: Rainworth.

Lee Oakes: Midfielder. Age 25. “Mitto” has been with us for a few years and falls into the Simon Ward roll of another tough tacking, energetic midfielder.

Pat Keating: Midfield. Age 26. Now in his 2nd year with Blidworth, he’s our Captain and rightly so. He performs a Frank Lampard roll getting all over the pitch. He is our set-piece specialist and has a mean shot on him. Previous Clubs: Clipstone Welfare.

Lee Thompson: Midfield. Age 26. Moved into a right wing role after joining as a striker. Has great strength and crossing ability. Previous Clubs: Clipstone Welfare.

Nathan Booth-Cantrill: Striker Age 25. A proven goalscorer at this level. Has gelled well with Steve Jelley this year. Previous Clubs: Chesterfield, Hucknall, Glapwell, Shirebrook.

Mickey Clarke. Striker: Age 25. We hope to have Mickey back before the end of the season, but an ankle injury may mean its next year before he’s playing again. Our top scorer last year. Previous Clubs: Rainworth.

Fabio Gardella. Striker: Age 24. A former England under-19s Goalkeeper, Fabio is now a hard-working striker who’ll chase any ball. He’s now in his 3rd year with us.
