Club
History
The Club originally started back in 1981 as a Sunday team called Village
FC playing in the Mansfield & District Sunday League. In 1983 the
club changed it's name to Smith Street FC. The club started to play
at it's present ground in 1986 when the club became known as Masfield
Colliery FC due to the close links with the colliery.
When the Colliery closed down in 1988 the name changed to Forest Town
Welfare FC to represent the local community, still playing in Sunday
football today.
In January 2000, the club together with the management of the Saturday
Youth Team Mansfield Colliery U16's FC and a few players from Abacus
FC formed Forest Town FC.
In 2002 the club developed further with the formation of a reserve
team.
