Club History

Punjab United FC was formed in the summer of 1966 from members of the Asian community in Derby and entered the Derby Sunday Football league in 1968. This brought a structured framework to the club and formed a solid foundation from which to build.

The club which is now well established in the local community and surrounding area, started up a second team and entered it in the Derby Senior Football league playing on Saturdays.

Over the past 39 years the local Businesses, Community Centres, Gurdwara's and Voluntary organisations have provided invalable support and assistance in both moral and financial capacities, which has helped our developement and we are indebted to them.

The club is now firmly established in the football community of Derby and the surrounding area and has developed many links, including involvement in the Derby County FC scheme "Football in the Community" which we firmly believe in. We continue to build and develop and are having a positive and increasing effect on the rich and diverse cultural activities of the local population.

In 2003/04 we entered out Senior team in to the Central Midlands Football League Premier Division , where on our forst season we finished in 11th place. With being in the Pyramid system it gives a clear indication that our objectives of promoting football in the community and encouraging the developement of youth football in particular is being acheived.
