Club History
Radcliffe Olympic FC was founded in 1876, making it one of the oldest football Clubs in the local area, a forerunner for other Clubs. The Club used to have their ground and play their games on Holme Lane. Later they switch to a ground on Bingham road in 1892. During this early period the standard of players at the Club was extremely high. One player who was to go on to play international football was Harry Butler Daft who played for the Club in the early 1890’s. He later moved to Notts County Football Club where his father was a founder member.

The season of 2002/03 was the most successful season in Radcliffe Olympic’s long 127 history. Under the guidance of Notts Alliance ‘Manager of the Year’ Graham Harrod the first team won the Notts Alliance Senior Division easily with several games in hand. They also added the Notts Alliance Senior League Cup to their silverware in the season too. However, probably the greatest achievement last season was reaching the semi final stage of the Notts FA Saturday Senior Cup in which they narrowly lost out to Hucknall Town. This impressive showing in the semi final proved what many had been thinking that the first team are one of the best local teams around.

Over the summer period there has been an enormous change to the structure of the entire Club. Radcliffe Olympic FC amalgamated with the other Radcliffe-on-Trent based football Club ASC Dayncourt. This merger has now created a ‘Super’ Club that boasts some 25 football teams. These teams are split into four different sections of the Club which are Juniors, Intermediates, Ladies and Seniors with the ages being represented between 4 and 60.

In the Seniors section of the Club there will be 8 teams playing football from the 2003/04 season onwards. There will be four teams playing on a Saturday and four teams playing on a Sunday. It is within the Seniors section that the Club will see the most changes on the footballing side with both sides of the two Clubs men's teams being brought together. This will hopefully bring out the best of competition for places within the teams and the vest best of local talent will be on show for the one Club from now on.

Radcliffe Olympic FC will now be located at two grounds within Radcliffe-on-Trent. The first team and reserve team will be based on the Recreational Ground on Wharf Lane. The third and fourth teams on a Saturday will be playing their home games at the Bingham Road Ground. The Sunday teams will also be split between these two grounds with the veterans and Sunday ‘A’ team playing at the Recreational ground and the Sunday ‘B’ and Sunday ‘C’ teams playing at Bingham Road.

This season will see the first team playing in the Central Midlands League Vipond Premier Division whilst the reserve team are playing their football in the Central Midlands League Lee‘s Reserve Division One. The third and fourth teams will be playing in the Midlands Amateur Alliance Divisions Premier and One respectively. During the past few seasons the standard of football has once again risen to a high level. This season will probably be one of the longest seasons ever played by a Radcliffe Olympic team with there being a potential of 50 games to be played. This will test both the management and the squad to the maximum and will prove an invaluable experience for seasons to come for the Club.

The future of Radcliffe Olympic FC is looking bright. With the increasing success on the pitch the club are looking to improve off the pitch too. Ground facilities are one factor that the club are looking to improve. Currently there is a need for a clubhouse, floodlights, and ground improvements to be looked into. Radcliffe Olympic FC are offering a number of different sponsorship packages in order to raise the funds to upgrade the ground. When this happens the potential of the Club in endless.

The Profile of Radcliffe Olympic is another side of the Club that has been addressed over the summer. The Club’s official website has been upgraded to highlight the changes that happened over the summer. Also the Club had the new kit and colours modelled by leading glamour model Viki Neil to help raise the Club’s profile and hopefully attract sponsorship
