Football Clubs using the name Rolls Royce have played at the Hucknall
site since 1935 when the factory firstd it's gates, however in
those early days they only competed in the Notts Amateur League and
combination levels, that was until John Hemment and the late Philip
Creswell took a Rolls side to the old Midland League First Division
before becoming founder members of the Northern Counties East League
in the mid-70's before the club disbanded making way for the current
club.
After starting out in ther East Midlands Regional League we moved to
the Notts Allaince in 1983. Under the management team of Dave Tilford
and Ken Knighton won the first division title in 1988, at which time
Rick Bentley took over as manager, in his first season he saw this side
lose in the Semi-Final of the Notts Senior Cup, however success soon
followed winning the League's Senior Cup the following season.
In 1993 after a succession of mid table finishes in the Senior Division,
Roger Dawkins took over as Manager. The following seasons saw us finish
8th, 4th and 3rd before a decision to progress in to the Central Midlands
Premier Division, at the same time we joined forces with our Junior
Section forming one clubbing comprising of 17 teams and a soccer school
for 5 to 8 year olds.
In the early days the amalgamation paid dividends with the erection
of a stand and the senior side finishing runners up and gaining promotion
to the Supreme Division. Unfortunately, due to financial reasons, the
seniors and juniors agreed to run as separate clubs again from 2000.
At the end of the 2000-01 season the committee resigned on bloc making
way for a new management team and committee chaired by John Hemment.
The first team control was taken by joint manager Tony John and Phil
Towle who despite off field problems, steered Rolls to second in the
league, denied promotion only by lack of facilities.
With new signings and a new committee Rolls are looking forward to
a successful campaign in 2004/05. After losing Phil Towle and many players
in the previous close season in came John Cheetham and Billy Miller.
Rolls struggled to make an impact during the first 16 games of the
2003 / 04 season but a brave revival lifted them off the bottom of the
Central Midlands Supreme League towards the end of the campaign.
Rolls have welcomed many new faces to the club both on and off the
field after the merging with former Notts Alliance side Chaffouteaux
FC bringing with them a new committee and Chairman Mark Nicholls who
has great ideas to take the club forward.
