Club
History
Santos - established in 1965, After spending many years in the Amateur
Leagues in Notts, in 2001 a new Manager was brought in to re-vitalise
the flagging club. Young, fresh players were brought on board to compliment
the 'older' experienced players. This resulted in a rise through the
Amateur League, becoming Notts. Amateur League Premier Division Champions
2001/02. Being then promoted to the Notts. Alliance Division 2 gave
the team a goal, and the Manager a 3 year plan to become semi pro! The
Santos lads took this on board, and became Champions of Division 2 for
2002/03.
Division 1 was the next challenge. After a bad run of losses at the
beginning of the season, Santos managed to pick themselves up and ended
up a respectable joint 4th at the end of season 2003/04.
After discussion with various leagues within Notts, it was decided
that Santos would 'go for it', and apply to Central Midlands - 1 year
earlier than planned. Central Midlands were pleased to accept the application,
and allocated us to the Premier Division for the 2004/05 season.
Looking forward to the Central Midlands, the team has been on a tough
training routine, a few new players have been brought in again to play
alongside our 'old boys', and the whole team is excited to start the
season. A lot of effort has been put in by all involved in Santos to
make this jump into becoming a semi-professional club a successful one.
