Club History

The club was formed in the mid 80's as Spion Kop FC, with Ron Turner as Manager and competed in the Mansfield Bitter League, winning the Division 2 and 1 Championships along with the Notts Junior Cup.

In 1991 they reformed the old Welbeck Colliery side and moved to their present home at Elkesley Road, Meden Vale. The club competed in the Chesterfield League where they won many trophies, one of particular note was to win the Graham Cup and become the 1st club outside of Chesterfield to win this competition.

In the 1993/94 season they joined the Notts Alliance League and their 1st season saw them win the Division 2 Championship, the Notts Alliance Junior Cup and the Notts FA Intermediate Cup. The club was promoted to Division 1 for the 1994/95 season and they won the Championship and retained the Notts FA Intermediate Cup. The following season they were promoted to the Senior Division, Kevin Gee was appointed Assistant Manager and they finished the season just above the relegation zone.

Kevin Gee was appointed Manager for the 1997/98 season and his first signing was ex Mansfield town pro, Les McJannet as his assistant. They had a successful start to their management term, gaining runners up spot in the league and reaching the semi-finals of the Notts Senior Cup.

In 1998 they move up to the Central Midlands League premier division and were runners up in their first season, gaining promotion to the Supreme Division. at the end of the season kevin and Les decided to move on. Andy Kirk & junior Glave were appoointed joint managers after 5 games of the 2000/01 season and were hoping to take the club up another level, but after guiding the club to the semi finals of the Notts Senior Cup, Eastwood town offered them a opportunity they could not refuse.

The club now is managed by Steve Wilkinson and he hopes to build on the 12th position that his side finished in the Premier Division last season.
