The event held at the Derbyshire County Cricket Ground proved to be a tremendous success and credit must be given to Management Committee members, Eddie Pearce and Neil Bott for organising the event, the first for many years.
The feature of the evening was the presentation of the League Trophies and several special awards. The Computer Products League Championship Cup was presented to Retford United, whilst Vipond Fire Protection Premier League winners, Radcliffe Olympic, collected a new trophy kindly donated by Pelican F.C. Radcliffe Olympic were also on hand to pick up the Lee's Reserve Division One Championship Cup.
The Sportsman's Awards went to Dinnington Town who took the Computer Products Supreme Division Award, and Southwell City who took the honours in the Vipond Fire Protection Premier Division.
The League Chairman, Frank Harwood bestowed his own trophy for the Programme of the Year to Radford F.C., whilst the Secretary of the Year award went to Matlock United's Ray Fletcher.
A special award was presented to Supreme Division side Graham St. Prims who have reached their centenary having been formed in 1904.
Sponsors of the Team of the Month, Stadium Services, proprietor, Linden Davison gave the Heanor Town Secretary, Keith Costello, the award for April/May and then made a further presentation to John Hodgkinson the Secretary of Retford United who's club crowned a remarkable season by winning the 'Team of the Season' award.
The highlight of the awards was the Presentation to Frank Harwood by Tony Baugh on behalf of the CMFL of a beautiful replica of the F.A. Cup in crystal to mark his retirement after ten years service as the CMFL General Secretary.
The comedy duo of 'Night & Day' gave this excellent evening rich entertainment and was followed by Karaoke which took the event to the midnight hour. By this time most of the guests had departed and unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your viewpoint) missed the League Chairman, Frank Harwood and Vice Chairman, Eddie Pearce, rendering a duet of 'You'll Never Walk Alone', a truly fitting climax.
